Kostiantyn Maksymov

Priest. Chongar, Kherson region

On the morning of May 16, 2023, a priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Konstantin Maksimov, left the occupied city of Tokmak on a volunteer humanitarian mission through Crimea. At 10:27 a.m., Konstantin told his friends by phone that he had arrived at a checkpoint, presumably in the city of Chongar. Since then, there has been no contact with Konstantin. Most likely, the clergyman was detained by the Russian military and is being held in a filtration camp in Dzhankoy. There is currently no information about Konstantin’s location or status, nor any rationale given for such a long detention.
