Winter marathon for Kremlin’s hostages
For the fourth year in a row, Euromaidan SOS and its partners are conducting a winter letter writing marathon in support of political prisoners held by the Kremlin as part of the LetMyPeopleGo campaign to share the warmth of Christmas holidays.
More than 60 Ukrainian citizens will spend the winter holidays in cold Russian prisons this year. Held on completely trumped-up charges, their aggregate prison sentence comes up to nearly 200 years. Among the imprisoned there are students, multi-child parents, people suffering serious illnesses, leaders of the Crimean Tatar people, human rights activists, artists and journalists.
For them, receiving a letter is like a breath of freedom, a connection to the outside world and tremendous moral support. Letters remind them that they are not forgotten, that people are fighting for them to be released and await them.
For the letters to pass the prison censors, follow these simple rules:
– write in Russian;
– maintain political neutrality;
– indicate on the envelope the full name, patronymic, last name and year of birth of the addressee;
– enclose blank pieces of paper, postal stamp and an envelope if you expect to receive a reply.

The LetMyPeopleGo campaign was initiated by Euromaidan SOS to defend all Ukrainian citizens imprisoned on political grounds in Russia and occupied Crimea. The campaign’s objective is to achieve the release of all people on the list of LetMyPeopleGo.
