The International Federation for Human Rights made its annual visit to Kyiv

Representatives of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and its member organisations, the Centre for Civil Liberties and the Kharkiv Human Rights Group, met at the Prosecutor General’s Office.

Human rights activists discussed joint activities in investigating war crimes and substantiating crimes against humanity. The meeting focused on documenting and accountability for sexual and gender-based violence, crimes against humanity and crimes of civilian forced displacement, in particular, during the filtration process. As well as prosecuting the crime of incitement to genocide.

Civil society organisations stressed the importance of collecting evidence for future use not only in national courts, but also in countries that apply the principle of universal jurisdiction. Since the large-scale invasion, FIDH, the Centre for Civil Liberties and the Kharkiv Human Rights Group have analysed a number of evidences to confirm the commission of genocide, genocide propaganda and various war crimes by the Russian military and provided psychological and legal assistance to victims. 

The Office of the Prosecutor General confirmed its willingness to cooperate with the civil society sector in investigating the crimes of genocide, incitement to genocide, CRSV and war crimes and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
