Fixation of war crimes: coordination of cooperation and mechanisms of interaction

Every Ukrainian is a victim of this war. Everyone has their own story that is worth documenting. Serhiy Movchan, the head of the war crimes documentation department at the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union, said this during a briefing on recording war crimes: coordination of cooperation and interaction mechanisms on October 27. The Center for Civil Liberties, the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union, and the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center organized the event to talk about the T4P crime documentation system.

“To date, the T4P team has recorded 23,419 war crimes. Separately, there is a classification based on human losses and destroyed infrastructure facilities. We see that the destruction of property and war crimes against civilians is Russia’s way of waging war, ” Sviatoslav Ruban, an expert at the Center for Civil Liberties, summed up.

The speakers added that many victims are unaware of the number of war crimes committed against them. People were left without homes, cars, mutilated and mutilated bodies. In addition to documenting war crimes, the team aims to transfer this information to relevant investigative bodies and international courts.

“When communicating with the victims, you need to pay attention to the fact that you need to protect your rights and take active actions in this regard,” – Pavlo Demchuk, volunteer documenter.

The process of documenting war crimes is quite complex. Still, experts are convinced that writing and informing Ukrainian society and the world community about the facts of the crimes committed by the Russian Federation is one of the mechanisms for bringing to justice those who committed war crimes in Ukraine.

We will remind you that to join the documentary team; you should go to the link and fill out the google form. Next, the candidate must undergo training in documenting war crimes and join a group of volunteers.
