Ivan Drozd

On February 28, 2022, 28-year-old Ivan Drozd was walking to Liutizh after work to help his younger brother. Near Kozarovychi, Ivan was ambushed by Russians. When he saw the soldiers, he shouted «Slava Ukraini» — «Glory to Ukraine» — wrongly assuming they were Ukrainian. The soldiers immediately detained Ivan and brought him to the VKNALAND plant, where they were holding civilians. On March 6, 2022, Ivan was forcibly transferred to Russia through Belarus. The National Information Bureau has confirmed that currently, Ivan is being held in pretrial detention center number 2, in Novozybkiv, Bryansk region, Russia. Former prisoners say that Ivan was presented as a combatant in order to exchange civilian Ukrainians for Russian soldiers. Ivan is currently on the list of POWs to be exchanged.
