Decommunisation laws of Ukraine: it is necessary to go ahead

Recall, April 9 Rada endorsed the draft law “On the condemnation of the Communist and National Socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes and ban their symbolism propaganda» (number 2558).

The law defines criminal Communist and Nazi regimes, which have claimed millions of Ukrainians. In Ukraine, introduced the responsibility for advocating Communist and Nazi regimes and the public use of their symbolism.

Production, distribution and use of Communist symbols, anthems of the USSR and the Ukrainian SSR shall be punished by restriction of freedom for up to five years, or imprisonment.

Also established procedures and deadlines for renaming objects that are “communist” name. On the streets of Ukrainian cities will take away the symbols and monuments that glorify the totalitarian regime functionaries.
