Oleksandra Matviichuk attended the World Leaders Forum

On 9 April, Oleksandra Matviichuk, Head of the Center for Civil Liberties, attended the World Leaders Forum organized by the Columbia Law School Human Rights Institute and the Harriman Institute.

The World Leaders Forum is a recognized platform created for the meaningful exchange of knowledge and ideas on the issues of global economy, politics and social issues. For two decades, the World Leaders Forum has been an integral element of Columbia University’s mission of training the next generation of leaders who will address the challenges of an increasingly changing and interconnected global society. According to the organizers, Oleksandra’s participation in the event became a special privilege for the student community, which learns firsthand. Therefore, an event with an advocate of democracy and human rights who promotes positive changes in a complex political environment was extremely important.

Oleksandra’s experience in creating horizontal structures for massive involvement of people in human rights activities, as well as a practice of documenting war crimes, the creation of the “Tribunal for Putin” special initiative and the impact of the Nobel Prize on the organization’s activities were of a special significance for the Forum.

Oleksandra’s speech was followed by a moderated discussion, which included a Q&A session with Columbian University students, scholars, and lecturers.
