Securing the internet for children and adults
World Safer Internet Day is celebrated on February 8. Since 2004, Safer Internet Day has been celebrated in 150 countries and on 6 continents. The slogan of the campaign is “Together for a better Internet”. The European Commission supported its introduction to promote safe Internet for adolescents and young people.
According to the 2021 report, the number of social network users was 4.2 billion, and the number of global smartphone users was 5.22 billion.
We can’t imagine our lives without the Internet, but every day we face risks and cyberattacks. The main goal of #SaferInternetDay activities is to raise awareness and to better understand how to use the Internet safely.
Human rights and the Internet are interconnected, and every day users face threats online, from bullying to infringement of intellectual property. We encourage everyone to remember that legal awareness and information security prevent violations of personal privacy.
In a framework of joint Center for Civil Liberties & ABA ROLI project “Promoting Internet Freedom in Ukraine” ССL carries out a number of activities on Internet freedom, freedom of speech on the Internet, and media literacy.
