Mykola Smahliuk

On March 5, 2022, the Russian military detained 25-year-old Mykola Smagliuk and another man in Hostomel. The men came out of hiding to take out the garbage. A relative of Mykola said that she spoke to the second man after his release from the Kursk detention center; the man told her that Russian soldiers had ordered him and Mykola to lie on the ground and crawl to an armored personnel carrier before they were detained. He and Mykola were held together for several days at the military base in Gostomel, but were taken to Russia separately. At present, Mykola is probably being held in prison in the Russian Federation.
