I am dissatisfied with all the presidents – from the first to the last

Levko Lukyanenko – Ukrainian dissident and politician, one of the founders of the Ukrainian Helsinki Group, People’s deputy of Ukraine of many convocations, Hero of Ukraine, diplomat, writer, author of the Act of Independence of Ukraine. He headed the commission on pardons under President Viktor Yushchenko. Levko Lukyanenko – winner of the 2016 National Taras Shevchenko Prize.

The leading Ukrainian TV channel “112. ua ” Natalia Vlaschenko talked to Levko Lukyanenko.

Vlaschenko: Our guests are well-known political prisoner, politician, writer, historian, Levko Lukyanenko Ukrainian.

Good evening, Levko G.. You are one of those who received the Shevchenko Prize. We all believe that absolutely deserved for you.

Lukyanenko:I, of course, pleased that the Committee on the Shevchenko Prize decided to award me the title of the winner of the Shevchenko Prize. But I never in my head does not come any plague that would take me to stray from my main lifeline. Finally, I know that people do not read the Shevchenko Prize winner, and works of those authors who people love. But if a person is interested in the history of the struggle for independence, he will find in my works a lot of interesting things. So I know that in itself Shevchenko Prize – it is like the elevation, if some higher level in the Writers environment. My talent is not the art of the writer, but the ability to formulate well thought about the fate of Ukraine, on the development of our Ukrainian community, love for the native land, how much and how to fight for the independence of Ukraine. That is, the fate of the nation and its interpretation, and periods of its development in different periods. In these 13 volumes I have written, is written all in order to “hahlov” and “Ukrainians” Ukrainians do. These books spread Ukrainian national idea. I tried to convey the love that I have for Ukraine, in terms of products.

– What do you think about the role of Petro Poroshenko in the modern fate of Ukraine?

– President – it is such a high position that this post can be done either bad or good. It all depends on the degree. President Poroshenko does something good. He knows English, and when he went abroad, every Ukrainian can be proud that our president is on a level with other diplomats from other countries behave with dignity. This representative function that it performs well. As for the construction of the Ukrainian state, development – is the other side. Then you can see who he is. In Poroshenko whole previous life is connected with the business, and the work that person does affects his consciousness. As president requires policy-statesman. This is somewhat not what he has in his previous life. Therefore, in this second side there is a huge problem. I think, that his soul is torn between the two sides – on the one hand, and business is communication, and on the other hand, the problem of building an independent state. This is something new for him, although he is not in the policy of the first day. But as president – is a special role.

– What are the main danger today to see what’s going on?

– The first danger – this offensive Muscovy against Ukraine. The Russian political elite is not resigned to the fact that Ukraine became an independent state. Moscow’s political elite to educate yourself through the centuries, Ukraine – is not Ukraine, and Little Russia, the Ukrainians – it’s not the Ukrainians, and Little Russians, the Ukrainian language – is not a language, and some dialects. Large policy said: “The Russian empire is impossible without Ukraine.” Therefore, the Moscow political elite from the 91-year tends to return to Ukraine under Moscow’s rule.

– And what are the internal danger?

– And then there is the problem of internal ideological consolidation. I am dissatisfied with all the presidents – from the first to the last. Before ’91, we do not have Ukrainian informatsinnogo space, for we know only that the disseminated Russia. And after the 91-year happened that Ukraine has not mastered the information space, because the information space was in the hands of migrant workers. The 92-year BP adopted a law on small and large privatization, foreign trade and so on. D. And these laws television and radio channels have become a commodity. We were under pressure from Moscow’s propaganda campaign. Having emerged from a Moscow prison of nations, the Ukrainian government should organize retraining nation – Ukrainians return to our Ukrainian spiritual values, our culture, our language, moreover,

– Do you think the West is really familiar with the state of things, which is in Ukraine?

– West – this state, each of which is selfish and cares for his people. And this is normal. Abnormal on the world stage are we, Ukrainians, so we raised Moscow that we are internationalists. As we have killed the national feeling. Ukrainians do “gomosovetikusov”. We left crippled – we have very low national consciousness, and we have a very low civic engagement. This is what we came out of the peoples of the Russian prison. And every nation in the world knows that this is his birthplace, that his state is his power that cares for the welfare of the people. Therefore, national selfishness reigns in the world. And we – internationalists, we are not prepared to protect Ukraine. 25 years still is not enough for us to realize that just fell in love with this country, only to organize within Ukraine, Only by creating a Ukrainian nationalist government – we will start to revive. When in 1999 were presidential elections – he had a meeting with Marchuk, who was then running for president. It then someone asked: “And how do you look at nationalism?” And he said: “And show me one president in the world, at least one state that would not be a nationalist.”

– Do you think that over the last two years we were able to rebuild the Ukrainian security, whether we were able to create an army?

– Thanks to the young people, thanks to the initiative of the people we have in the way of a quick recovery of the Ukrainian army. And much has been done in this direction.

– And what should be the future of our relations with Russia?

– Now events are preparing the second phase of the disintegration of the Russian Empire. The first phase of disintegration took place in 1991, when 14 republics became independent states. Now comes the process of preparing the second phase of the disintegration of the Russian Empire, when from under Moscow’s power will come the former autonomous republics – modern subjects of the Russian Federation. A third phase is when Muscovites will create their own national state. A border will be where there is ethnic boundaries. For Muscovites it will not matter, they will not be worse off, when released from the colony. But it is a catharsis for them, because they have to give up, because of external pressure, from the eternal dream Chingiskhanovoy – to conquer Europe and then to conquer the world, to reach the sea. It will have to reconsider this catharsis that Russia will survive. And then the next will be the country,

– Do you like what is happening in the BYuT faction in which you are, and I want you to get back into politics?

– I do not want to return to state activities, and from politics, I did not leave. In 2007, we were forced to dissolve the Verkhovna Rada, and after I was not going to go back there.

– How do you predict the political future of Tymoshenko?

– She – a talented politician. But everything has its time. I am very pleased that the Moscow showed a wild horde is now at the front of their inner essence. It reminded me of events 1708-1709 years and the barbarism which they did. But then the world did not know. Now they have shown this savagery to the whole world. And the young guys, the first “Right Sector”, then heirs of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists went to defend our land from these subversive and terrorist groups, in Moscow. Putin brings now have Ukrainian patriotism. Really this war of the Ukrainian people, the Ukrainian nation does. The circumstances put forward a lot of young people. And so Julia, surely some more time may be active in politics.

– And you are now communicating?

– If there was a need, yes. We have normal relations.

– Who are the political forces today, it has a resource, the ability to stop this war, to start again the Ukrainian economy?

– I see enough young people in different organizations. They have broad thinking, they are young – they are 30 years old. I see those people and guarantee the development of Ukrainian movement for justice. If you take the current government, it may be personally some of them are normal, but, in principle, they are accustomed to act by agreement, trade benefits. But most importantly, I saw that there are maneuvers in the corridors of power, and these maneuvers so captured these people, that they have forgotten about the other – the people.

– As we are all united in Ukraine? It does not upset your specific language, cultural, ethical radicalism of such parties as “Freedom”?

– We need to understand the difference, and then understand how to achieve unification. Ukraine I see three bands: the left bank, right bank and Western Ukraine. Left bank and a little south came under Moscow’s power in the 18th century. Right Bank – in the 19th century. A western Ukraine – in the 20th century. The greater part of the Ukraine was under the rule of Moscow, the more it Russified. We know that Ukrainians combines extremely powerful genetic code. We were scattered under different occupation. I have a claim to the “Freedom”, but the way of Ukraine to the consolidation goes through the return of the people to the Ukrainian language and Ukrainian culture, to everything that makes our bolshoeproshloe. To the outside world not to be a servant, as a full member – it is helpful to take shape and become a nation. And we can become a nation in the event, when we go back to the language of our ancestors, the customs of our ancestors, the culture of our ancestors. When people learns two things: without historical thinking people is not a nation. A historical thinking must be given through the study of our history, language and culture. Historical thinking is part of the Ukrainian national idea. Influence of Muscovy should be discontinued. And it depends on the government. And I’ve got one of the claims to our intellectual president – why did not he organized a program of national-patriotic education? Influence of Muscovy should be discontinued. And it depends on the government. And I’ve got one of the claims to our intellectual president – why did not he organized a program of national-patriotic education? Influence of Muscovy should be discontinued. And it depends on the government. And I’ve got one of the claims to our intellectual president – why did not he organized a program of national-patriotic education?

– You have questions?

– How do you feel as a Ukrainian, when you hear about the Ukrainian language?

– I – the Russian-speaking Ukrainian. I can speak both languages, but Russian I speak a little bit easier. I think a lot about how to make sure that we are one nation, because no matter what language I speak, I feel 100% Ukrainian, dream that we were a unitary state, and I also dream of to say goodbye with Muscovy. Therefore, we have to create for themselves a great humanitarian concept of cultural development, in order to move on.

I’m grateful that you came.

– I will pray to God that he kept my life to win over Moscow.
