In Zhanaozen-2011 and the Maidan in 2014 a lot in common
The premiere of the documentary “20” on the events on the Maidan 20 February 2014 have already passed in the three capitals of former Soviet republics – Bishkek, Almaty and Moscow.Ahead – Europe. How to meet the film? Their impressions shared Sasha Romantsova – an employee of the Center for Civil Liberties, which, together with the project “euromaidan-SOS» and organized a premiere of the film.
Portal “Respublika” has already talked about how passed the first screening of the film “20” in Almaty (see more stuff “One day in the life of the Kiev Maidan” ). And today, after the premiere took place already, even in Moscow, the journalists asked the organizers of the show, as the product of the Ukrainian filmmakers met in the CIS countries. And that’s what we were told.
– Alexander is born film “20”?
– The film was created by the joint efforts of “euromaidan SOS» public initiative, Internet TV Ukrlife.TV and the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union. A team of eight people: human rights defenders, journalists, directors and director – Maksima Spasova – worked from February and presented in Kiev finished film April 22. The very idea was not as a result of a special project, and during the events on the Maidan witnesses interrogation of human rights defenders.
– When and where he was presented to the audience?
– April 22 the film was shown for the first time in Kiev, abroad, he was presented the first time in the end of August Bishkek and Almaty, and on August 30 in Moscow. The plans show the tape in Georgia and Poland – at the OSCE Human Dimension Implementation Meeting.
– Why did you decide to start to show the film to the foreign audience with the Central Asian countries?
– Events that occurred in the Maidan on February 20, unfortunately, had a lot of unique in the recent history of Central Asia: it’s December events, 1986 in Almaty, and again, the December events of 2011 in Zhanaozen, and the events of April 2010 in Bishkek. And it was important that the citizens of these countries have seen that solidarity is much more reasons than just friendship.
There the film and another task – to prevent the repetition of these events, the gross and blatant violation of human rights. May know the civil society in Ukraine more about events listed above, it could be more secure …
In addition, during the discussion of the film, we learned about the experience of colleagues in the monitoring of the progress of investigation into the events and now we have a list of risks that should prevent, to investigate the incident on the Independence February 20, 2014 mayhem is not delayed until the complete loss of interest in it.
(Remember, this day troops tried to disperse rigidly Maidan in Kiev, and the next day Yanukovych has already fled the country, but on the battlefield remained “heavenly hundred.” – so called maydanovtsev who died for the free choice of the country).
– What was the reaction to the film in the CIS?
– The main part of the audience – it was the activists of non-governmental organizations, human rights activists and journalists. The film is in the public domain on the Internet and already has a lot of views. And the questions usually begin with the details of the investigation the events of February 20, and ends the details of the functioning of the Maidan.
But the most valuable thing for us to communicate with the audience – it comments, comparing the events on the Maidan, and similar events in the country show. They surprised more than a question, because what transpired some general pattern of what was happening, certain vicious system, which must be fought together.
– whether the support was felt from the audience?
– Probably, those who did not support the Maidan, simply would not have come to watch a movie. And those who came very sincerely tried to show their interest in him, the events on the Maidan, and support for Ukrainian civil society.
