We can not allow the world to forget about the Crimea
The world human rights community should speak loudly about what is happening in the annexed Crimea and change mechanisms of influence on the aggressor country. This was during a round table “Ukraine and the world through the prism of the Crimea”, which takes place in the framework of the II Forum in Lviv, Crimea, said Chairman of the Board of the Polish Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights Danuta Pshivara.
– We need to pay attention to what is happening in the Crimea and to protect the victims of violations, to help refugees and those institutions who left the Crimea – the independent media. We need to speak loudly about what is happening there. We can not allow the world to forget about the Crimea, – she said.
Pshivara noted that the international human rights community should not only be guided by the tools that are in the OSCE, UN, Council of Europe and the EU, as well as work to change international mechanisms in resolving the Crimean issue.
– Most importantly – the international human rights community must already begin to think seriously about what you want to change in the international mechanism. We are in the 90s in Poland were willing to change the situation after the fall of the communist wall, thanks to this we were able to quickly Europeanize. Therefore, the Crimean public today should not only participate in international institutions, but also to prepare society to the fact that when the international situation is favorable, you can immediately make a step forward, – said Chairman of the Board of the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights.
