Roman Levytskyi

Technician, volunteer. Mykolaivka, Kyiv region

On March 18, 2022, Roman Levytskyi and his brothers and friends were delivering humanitarian aid and evacuating people from occupied villages in Vyshhorod and Bucha in their cars. In Mykolayivka, the men were detained by Russian soldiers. The detainees were stripped of their shirts, searched for tattoos, put up against a fence, blindfolded with tape, and then brought to the «the foundry» — a plant in Dymer where Russians kept civilians. The men were later taken to Russia through Belarus. In April 2022, the Central Tracing Agency of the Red Cross confirmed that Roman was being held captive by the aggressor state. According to one man released from captivity, as of January 8, 2023, Roman was in detention center number 2, in Novozybkiv, Bryansk Oblast, Russia.
