Occupants arrested and smuggled to Moscow a famous sportsman from Melitopol

Russian occupants had kidnapped and later arrested and smuggled to Moscow a 44-year-old sportsman from Melitopol, Andrii Golubiev, a former border guard and Kung Fu trainer.

Andrii’s tragic story began on April 6th, 2022, when the Russian military kidnapped him from his own home. According to currently available information, at 6am on that day 5 people came to his house: three of them wearing full gear (bullet-proof vests, helmets, military uniform), two others wore black uniform and balaclavas. All of them carried weapons and big, tall shield.

Andrii was hand-cuffed and escorted out of his house despite his injuries and mobility impalement caused by constant joint pain. After that, his passport and phone were taken away. Despite this, his phone was active until April 14th. When relatives tried to reach Andrii, unknown persons, who were in possession of the phone, texted back: “everything is fine, he’s alive“.

We would like to emphasize that Andrii Golubiev is a civilian. He has left his duty as a border guard due to his health, namely a musculoskeletal disease that comes with chronic pain and requires consistent medication. His diagnosis is coxarthrosis of the second grade in his left hip joint and of the first grade in his right one.

Andrii did Kung Fu and became the head of Melitopol’s Kung Fu Federation. For several years he organized “Tauridian Games”, in which artists of different martial arts participated.

It’s known that Andrii Golubiev was being held at a detention center in Simferopol, Crimea, he was forced to accept an assigned lawyer without his, or his family’s consent.

He was charged with terrorism, and the court hearing was held in Simferopol. None of the concerned parties were informed about it. On May 18th, so-called Supreme Court of Republic of Crimea came to the decision according to which Andrii was to serve two months of imprisonment for, allegedly: “… committing a preparation to the act of international terrorism against citizens of Ukraine and Russian Federation, military personnel of the Russian Guard and members of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, participating in the Special Armed Operation on the territory of Ukraine, with the goal of disturbing the peaceful coexisting of states and peoples and directed against the interests of the Russian Federation”.

Later, the local appeal court declined the petition of appeal. Currently, Andrii is being held at Lefortovo prison in Moscow. Additionally, we have information that in the detainment center he doesn’t receive the needed medication. In the near future, it can lead to permanent disability and the need for emergency surgery.

At home, waiting for Andrii, are his mother (73 years old), wife and eight-year-old son, Zlatomyr.
