What is the Center for Civil Liberties, and why do we need support

(Public offer)

The Center for Civil Liberties (CSO) was founded in 2007 and participates in all major human rights events in Ukraine, trying to prevent and eliminate the consequences of human rights violations.

We advocate human rights, human rights education, public control of peaceful assemblies, the release of Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia, and the prosecution of war criminals.

The Euromaidan SOS hotline was founded to help victims and search for missing people during the Maidan events in 2013. Hot line received more than 16,000 calls. Thanks to our #SaveOlegSentsov campaign, people in 40 countries found out about Ukrainian political prisoners in Russian prisons, and it helped their release. More than 1,600 people studied human rights at the Kyiv School of Human Rights, the OZON Public Monitoring Group monitored more than 100 peaceful assemblies and court sessions, and the Human Rights Agenda platform coordinated 5 advocacy campaigns against human rights-threatening legislative initiatives.

Since the invasion of Russian troops on February 24, 2022, we have completely reformatted our work. We maintain a database of initiatives throughout the country that cover the needs of evacuation / defense / assistance / information, we contact people in need with these initiatives though our volunteer initiative Euromaidan SOS. We are documenting war crimes and are now collecting data of deliberate attacks on civilians. In cooperation with government agencies, we create a database of prisoners, kidnaped and missing persons. We are active in the international arena through our diaspora, international human rights networks, partners and friends around the world. We constantly run thematic advocacy campaigns. We have Facebook and Twitter working 24 hours a day to share useful information for people. On Youtube we publish information materials in different languages, and there is a whole group of translators who provide it.
